Certification in line with the Deutscher Tierschutzbund e.V. inspection plan
The German animal welfare association’s Für Mehr Tierschutz (“more regard to the welfare of animals”) label is used to identify products of animal origin which ensure that animals are treated differently. This label’s standards are far more stringent than the relevant legal requirements, and demand strict compliance and control throughout from animal husbandry to point of sale.
The Für Mehr Tierschutz label comprises two levels of requirements:
- the entry level (provision of additional space, suitable ethological/natural activities)
- the premium level (provision of areas with outdoor conditions, more space for free movement, provision of additional space).
Where no further requirements have been stipulated, the minimum provisions laid down in the relevant legislative documents such as the German Animal Welfare Act, the animal welfare and husbandry ordinance and its guidelines for implementation, the Pharmaceuticals Act, as well as the animal welfare ordinances on transport and slaughtering, as amended, apply.
